  1. The inlet camshaft adjuster relies on oil pressure, via the N80 valve, to damp out mechanical oscillations, from the opposing spring, and rotational centrifugal forces, at start up, especially if the engine has not run for a while. At startup, there's often a distinctive "FSI Rattle" (often blamed on the hydraulic valve lifters), but is, I think, more likely from the cam adjuster mechanism, in the moments before oil pressure in the adjuster rises. Partial blocking of the N80 is a likely cause, and quite possible over twenty years. Removal and cleaning, as suggested here is a good maintenance routine, regardless of an obvious problem, I think. Mac. Mac.
  2. I should add, I don't have a 1.4, just investigating for others. My A2's an FSI! Regards Mac.
  3. Hi, Happy New Year to all A2 Owners, Several members of the A2OC with AUA engined cars, have reported an "17961 - Barometric/Manifold Pressure Signals Implausible Correlation DTC" but have been unable to locate the cause. Typically, it' suspected of being associated with inlet air leaks, but it's not accompanied by "18711/P2279/008825 - Leak in Air Intake System" DTC "18711/P2279/008825 - Leak in Air Intake System" DTC. I suspect that there's a Barometric Sensor in the ECU, (F96), but I'm very much in a minority, (of one), in that belief. Does anyone know, for sure, if the AUA ECU has an internal Barometric Sensor, or not? It does have the atmospheric vent plug that ECUs that do incorporate a Barometric Sensor, seem to have. Thanks for reading. Regards Mac.
  4. Hi, Interesting finding. Which side of the flaps is touching the manifold wall? The side farthest from the actuator end, or nearest? Mac.
  5. So, does the inner helical gear slide on the camshaft, or is it fixed, and the outer helical gear moves within the adjuster mechanism? Sorry to keep asking, but I'm trying to get a mental picture, and sketch out a cutaway picture. The illustration in SSP253 is not clear, at least, not to me ... Mac.
  6. Hi, Can you describe how the drive from the sliding helical gear is transferred to the Camshaft please? Mac.

  8. I know this is a very old thread, but wondered if the camshaft advance problem was fixed and if so, was it the N205 valve at fault? Mac.
  9. How can the Injection Quantity, (EV, Einspritzventile), be seen in VCDS please? Wie kann die Einspritzmenge, (EV), bitte im VCDS angezeigt werden? Mac.
  10. Hi, how can the EVs please? Which VCDS Group? Mac. FSI Sport, 2004.
  11. Apologies for posting in English. In the VCDS Label file, for the BAD/FSI engine ECU, Data Block 4, in Group number 141, lists a number of "Limp Home" conditions. Does anyone know what the abbreviations, (DSKV etc), mean please? 31 = Limp Home/Error (DSKV), 32 = Limp Home/Error (MSVE), 33 = Limp Home/Error (DSKV & MSVE), 34 = Limp Home/Ubat (>=UBMSVMX), 35 = Limp Home/B_Airbag, 36 = Limp Home/Error (HDR), 37 = Limp Home/Error (ASVE). Mac.
  12. Hi, I've run the text file through Google Translate, and it looks OK. Probably not perfect, but better than none. Here's the translated file, it would be great if anyone could check through it for any obvious errors. Thanks vcds_bad_03.txt
  13. Hi, I'm a member of the A2 Owners Club in UK,and have a 1.6 FSI Sport. Those of us who have FSIs are having problems with VCDS when scanning the BAD Engine Controller, because their is no English language lable file. VCDS then redirects and gives it's best guess. This is often not technically correct Here's an example: Absolute Pressure for both values in Block 140, which should be Target Value and Actual Value. I have the German language lable file, and I am looking for help to translate it To English. I've attached the lable file, and would be very grateful for any volunteers 🤞 036-906-013-BAD.lbl.txt Mac.
