Eek!
The winters will be on for the trip...as soon as I've taken the old tires off of the steel wheels, they should have been taken off before I got them
Sunday is going to be a long day.....
-
I'll go down past Reims and on from there, I've not been to those parts before.
A couple of days to go, the car is still on summer tyres, it's stucl outside with half-fitted cruise and it's snowing well. I miss having access to a workshop
-
That's ok, that's what I was thinking of, the only difference is where you have the cap I'd carry on to the edge.
How much would one cost?
-
I'll try and get a spare tray to tinker with.
I haven't tried fibreglassing for years (and no sure I achieved anything then!).
I've got a couple of Bose 23cms to use but in many respects I wouldn't mind starting again without it...never happy
Stanni, if you have a spare for sale....
-
I want one!
-
I may have enough thick cardboard to make a template but I'd like to use fibreglass to take in the volume of the jack and all the curves as well. I don't have the skills though:(
I'm thinking use a 100w single channel amp run from the A2 woofer out to a 9 (or 2) in the boot through a pot to adjust the level (for OSS open/closed).
I still have a play with the A6 amp
-
It's quiet now, tape and rubber seal to secure it for the trip
I'll try and remember to take pics...
Should I carry snowchains in that region?

While waiting (again) for someone to deliver my winter wheels (who didn't show again ) I thought I'd try something with the Bose woofer box.
It's always sounded too middle deep for my liking so I thought I'd try a bit of wadding inside, partly to soften the midbass kick, partly to try and make the volume effectively larger.
These pics show the woofer uncovered (a 5.25" used in many Bose boxes) and the empty box. It may have been worthwhile sticking some sound deadening pads to the side but I didn't have any hand.
The Passat padding (from a 3B warranty job after plenum leak) was hacksawed to fit and wedged inside. I did try scissors but the pic will show why I stopped....
For fans of Blue Peter - not many of you I guess - here's one I prepared earlier...
It'll be a while before I can tell if it sounds any different because the false floor and load cover have been removed to load an interior for delivery so the acoustics will be different to normal anyway
I hope it'll help a little but I still want to make more changes!

Fingers crossed I'll be lucky with the weather here this week;

but looking at Munich...well, it'll remind of days driving aircooleds!

This is an idea I'll have to try and copy;

I was trying to get it closed better for the journey to Rinner
-
If a combined rain/dimming mirror from another car can be used that'll be an elegant solution.
I see on ebay also you can get coming home/leaving home modules...
Who'll be first to retrofit Park Assist? :D
-
Well, if it wasn't broken it certainly is now; first of all I couldn't get the lh side closed properly, in trying to do this the rh side has now broken so the roof is now up about 5-10mm all round
Has anyone driven with a roof like this, will it be safe?
-
Which of these would I use for an AUA bj2002?
retrofitting to 1.4 (BBY): (from model year 2002)Airbag steering wheel along with increase
Steering column cover and remove the old steering column switch
Skirts and lower fairing panel.
Install new steering column switch and wiring to the table:
Steering column switch - 17 x blue connector - engine control unit - Cross Cut / Color
Pin 5 - Pin 6 - Pin 76 to 0.35 sw / ro
Pin 2 - Pin 3 - Pin 75 to 0.35 bl / sw
Pin 3 - Pin 4 - Pin 57 to 0.35 bl / ro
Pin 4 + 7 - Pin 2 - Pin 38-.35 wh
Pin 6 ro gn / 0,22 to fuse 31 10A
Reassemble everything.
Now it may be, however, that the GRA does not funzt with the factory-installed Motorstsuergerät. Because you sure the dealer you have to make smart.
Greetings
Thomas

I've just ordered some Nightbreaker Plus H3 & H7, will let you know how I get on
-
Do you have any pictures of the sub in the boot?
-
I didn't drive when the snow was like that, just passengeered a Touareg
My A2 is tucked in the garage with a broken oss atm, I can't quite get it shut and I miss not being able to take it out
The practice in it would be good but practice in a different car is better than nothing.
-
We've had good weather over here for practicing, lots of icy roads at the moment.
-
More good news, I don't know if it's good or bad that three other A2s were there for OSS repair as well though!
My last service (oil change) was only 2000km ago using genuine Audi parts but I'd been expecting to pay for the repair, so if I end up with a service and repair for the same money I was expecting to spend it's still not a bad result
-
Haha
I drive on your side of the road quite often so I'm ok with that, it's driving 1200km with loose OSS that worries me
Also Googlemaps show it as a 12uhr journey...that's at the Geschwindikeitsbeschrenkung (is that correct?) and without stops or bad weather...it could easily then be 16:(
This is the route I'll probably take, apart from Calais I haven't been to anywhere on it before
Sorry, a bit off-topic there:o

A small price to pay
I'm nervous about the drive down but quite looking forward to the trip, Bad Toelz should be like a Christmas card
I've never driven to that part of the world before either so that'll be a new experience as well, I've got to say Googlemaps is very handy for looking at places to explore
-
Excellent news!
Sadly for me the last service wasn't at Audi, I wonder how big a service it needs to qualify (it will only need an oil change next service)?
-
Actually they didn't tell me that it is Necessary to have a 100% AUDI history. Mine doesn't have this either, so dont worry and tell then you came all the way just for the roof. [/ QUOTE]
Did they replace the whole roof on yours?
Either replace or repair, I'll be happy
-
I'm going to Rinner 20-12-10
I will probably have to pay for the repairs because I do not have 100% Audi service history (99%, the last was at an independent garage).
For me it's worth the journey, I haven't found anything I'd like to replace the A2 with yet (apart from an FSI or TDI ), the closest being a Skoda Roomster but the glass doesn't open (on the plus side at least it can't stop opening....).
I would prefer not to have so far to get it repaired but I don't have any option

I will have winter tyres on, I've got Semperits ready to fit.
They should have been fitted already I know but a friend hasn't been helpful and I only got the steel wheels I'm fitting them to from him yesterday
I'm getting a bit stressed now, I hate things being left to the last minute, I hate things not being fully organised
