Grundlegendes Einstellungs-Problem

Recommended Posts

(I have a problem trying to perform a transmission basic setting on my 1.2Tdi. All seems to go well until the last part of the gear actuator adaptation. There is no progression after starting the engine; VCDS shows 'SEARCHNG' and does not progress to 'IGN.OFF'.

During transmission shifting, on the DIS the gear changes are as follows: 1-4-3-4-5 at step 16 then remains in 5 until step 28. Is this correct?

Any assistance appreciated.)

Did you follow all steps in a correct way?

Pushing Brake pedal, using Gear lever, ...

Enough hydraulic oil?

Clutch actuator (Potentiometer) delivers coorect voltage 1.8 -2.0 Volt?

I did use the Ross-Tech instructions.

So when you move gear lever, you should always depress brake pedal? Possibly I did not, although I have read elsewhere you should not. (Possibly I've misunderstood you, yes I did follow the correct procedure).

There is sufficient hydraulic oil.

The clutch is adjusted correctly to give 1.90 volts. This is why I am having to perform the GE, because the starter motor would not operate because the clutch needed adjusting!

I tried to test you, to ensure that you really followed the instructions... ;)

In the german instruction there's a small hint, that the connection between VAG-COM and the "Steuergerät" may be lost while starting the engine. In that case disconnect and re-connect the ODB connector and get access again to the "Steuergerät".

OK!

I'll try disconnecting and re-connecting after starting. Not tonight though - it's dark and too cold! Is control normally lost at this point? I went through the procedure four or five times with the same result.

(O.K.!

Many thanks

Lutz,

Finally managed it. Not sure why though. Maybe because it's warmer here today? Or a poor connection somewhere.

Thanks for your help

All is clear now. The clutch was slowly seizing up because of water ingress and eventually seized completely. Now replaced. When I bought the car, the rubber plug was missing from the top of the clutch housing.
