Can I use a US spec RNS-E?

I can get a brand new US 2008 spec RNS-E for a good price but are there any problems using it in Europe (radio frequencies usw)?

It's probably cheap enough to make me not worry about holding for a 2010 spec but pointless if it won't work correctly.

Thanks :)

the US only uses wierd frequencies (97.3, 97.5, 97.7) and AM uses different steps (9kHz instead of 10 or the other way round, can't remember). It *might* be possible to re-code that it's in Europe, but I don't know that.
