  1. Mine doesn't have the tube there Arse. I'll have to look at retrofitting that but it's probably not so easy
  2. Correct on all counts I've used a stalk from a Golf4 and extended the loom, I have still to connect to the blue plug . Just to check; is this correct for a 2002mj AUA? und für den 1.4 Benziner, AUA bis Mj 2001: Lenkstockschalter - 17 fach Stecker weiß - Motorsteuergerät - Querschnitt/Farbe Pin 2 - Pin 7 - Pin 76 - 0,35 bl Pin 5 - Pin 9 - Pin 75 - 0,35 sw/ro Pin 3 - Pin 8 - Pin 57 - 0,35 bl/ro Pin 4 + 7 - Pin 10 - Pin 38 - 0,35 ws Pin 6 0,22 auf Sicherung 31 10A
  3. 1.4 benz 175/60/15 Semperit Wintergrip 6x15 et38 A3 stahlfelgen 5400rpm V-Power 99
  4. Could anyone supply me with a simple (!) how-to, I have sourced the mfl & other parts complete from one vehicle. Is it much more difficult that retro GRA? Danke
  5. Welcome over Rob, they're a cracking bunch on here; if it wasn't for this forum I wouldn't have been to Finland this year I will finish my cruise off
  6. 5000km/month, that's some driving I know sport seats were optional but i didn't realise a bed was I'm disappointed by the short life mostly because it's not often I change bulbs for the sake of it, if one blows I normally just fit one of the random spares I have that doesn't cost me any money
  7. I had to replace the first one last night
  8. Oh it'll be getting used, just haven't had the weather yet. It moves differently to the original one, slows a lot when it gets to the second pane and I think it may have snatched/juddered when I closed it yesterday It's raining today so I haven't opened it again but its probably just me looking for problems
  9. It may be bent but it mostly feels like the balljoint has failed/is moving about/usw. Has anyone had one fail and, if so how did it affect how the car drove? I wish I had a later car with seperate Kugelgelenk
  10. I've opened mine I must say I'm a bit paranoid about how the second glass opens and closes but it's all new so must be ok, it's certainly well greased  It was only open for 20 minutes on the way home from work but it was completely open, now I remember why I wanted one and why I went to Bavaria to get it fixed
  11. My readings; Field 2 : 34mm Field 3 : 12mm Field 4 : 55mm Oil temp : 10 I'm confused by the Kilometerstand reading; 7820 when it should be 78208 Does that reading come just from the clocks or it possible to check in the motorsteuergerate or somewhere? I'm puzzled as to why it would show 1/10th of the dash display. A bit (ok, a lot) hopeful but is it possible to get the oelstand reading up on a ScanGuage? Thanks for posting this guide up; I hate the unreadable dipstick with a vengeance (oil buzzer on the autobahn is not funny ), now I know I can check it before long roadtrips I wish it was a bit older so I had the Polo dipstick in there but that's a retrofit for another day...
  12. Beautiful pictures Sneaky pic of me I should have worn a diffferent jacket It's odd but looking at other peoples' pictures remind me more of having been there than my own. That's probably because you get used to seeing pictures of everywhere and places you haven't been but now I look at places at looked before I went and I'm in them Thank you
  13. Having driven a Polo 1.4 fsi with sport suspension recently I'm pondering the suitability of it's springs (or Eibachs for it) on the A2. The front axle weight listed for it is the same as my A2 was measured at and it definitely sat lower than a standard one. Not a lot, just enough, it looked 'right'. I'm tempted to try a pair on the front of mine (I'm happy with the rear) but I'm undecided as whether or not I think the spring rates will be suitable. I read somewhere that for the 3B Passat sport suspension it was 1% stiffer per 1mm lower, so I'm thinking that while the Polo may have lower spring rates weight-for-weight compared to an A2 this increase may balance it. Considering that most companies listings for A2 dampers are the same as those they list for Polos/Fabias/Ibizas I wonder how much difference it all really makes...all I know is that that Polo and the Foxes I've driven (on standard suspension ) have been much better balanced than an A2 out of the box
  14. If you use this and/or save lots of weight at the rear you can then softer springs or maybe different top spring mounts to lower it down again.
  15. I wonder if the inlet flap from a 100bhp is larger and will fit; I had a 1.0 '91 Polo that needed an inlet flap and the only (used) one I could find that would fit was from a '93 Golf 1.4. It was a larger bore and it felt much torquier afterwards, it was easy to change gear earlier and use a higher gear from lower revs. If this is possible it would help consumption and possibly the use of a 4+e, though which gear for that I don't know. I'll have to consider a lighter battery; the weight saved can then be replaced with a subwoofer
  16. I'll keep an eye on this thread, it's just the sort of mindset I have with mine. If you didn't have to change the complete front fender I'd put 1.2 arches on mine Of course, fitting heavier seats and speakers does nothing to help...
  17. I slept in the car a few km to the west of Oldenzaal...damn oil light & Hamburg roadworks. Despite topping up with oil he didn't sound happy so I gave him a rest. Outside temperature was +8 degrees so it wasn't a problem to get comfortable with the sleeping bag; I used to have air-cooled campers and the A2 does a fair impersonation when needed  I had a fault code I haven't had before, implausible signal from altitude sensor (probably wondered what it was up to in the hills in Lillehammer....) but despite all the dash lights coming on in Denmark - and I mean all, including red ones with beeps - it didn't log any abs etc faults I still owe you 15euros I can paypal it Bruce
  18. I'm also thinking the door pocket and foam area could be boxed off to give the 20cm some more volume to work in. I'm wondering if they ideally need a smaller midrange speaker as well, if so I could've just used 4 ohm mid & woofer parallelled to get 2 ohm.
  19. I'll look for some more A4 cab ones. The 23s are from an RX8 and were in the doors, though I don't know the volume an RX8 door! Hmm, looking at a pic of the setup, the 23s had an amp each...& just found a Mazda6 23cm with built in amp on ebay as well. That might be a better idea, could feed it from the A2 sub-out. Too much to do, too little time....
  20. I've just had an ebay delivery.... I don't know what car they've come from, I have asked the seller and I'm waiting for a reply. I hope he knows so I can hunt some more, 2 ohm is unusual and correct for the amp I've got a couple of standard front housings to tweak so I can hopefully squeeze them in there plus I have a pair of .5ohm ones I want to fit in the boot.
  21. a2-701; I'll get them up, I'm trying to work out how to get the videos to play also karat21; not quite, 150km south from there Istvan; the route back was roughly this - Stockholm Mariestad Kongsvinger Lillestrom Lillehammer Oslo Fredrickstad Gothenburg Malmo Copenhagen Kolding Oldenzaal Arnhem Leeuwarden Lelystad Hoek van Holland

    Welches Öl - 1.4 AUA

9600km after my Longlife service at Rinner the oil light has come on; not too bad I think. How much should I top up with? In the past I've stuck with 0.5l although my Passat takes 1l, I figure the A2 holds less oil overall so the min>max figure is less also.
  23. I've just figured out many miles I drove; 3260. That's 5216km:crazy: I'm really not sure how I managed to do that. Hmm.
  24. .....and I'm home. For such a brilliantly designed car the dipstick is :censored: and 's me off no end, especially when it's the middle of the night, you're not quite sure where you are and the car now smells hot & bothered. Was it wrong to start planning what engine would replace it......? Maybe not quite as bad as having all the dash lights illuminate and warning bongs go off while travelling at 160km/h...or possibly the wobble on the front being bad enough to have to slow down for and thus missing the Hel>Sto ferry (good job I hadn't booked it ) but when I did get there I saw a white A2 (and hopefully some unusual pics from the crossing if they come out ok ). I missed the mini meet in Gothenburg I'll sort pics & vids as soon as I can. Thanks to Bret for nudging in the right direction and to everyone else for the atmosphere
  25. I'll have rear seats, two of them. McDoof is about right I'll print these addresses off and read on them ferry...I'll be happier once under way
