Upgrade and spare parts

Hello everyone,

I am new at the club, I live in Denmark and I am finally about to became owner of an Audi A2 1.2 TDI 3L tiptr. 

I haven’t bought it yet, so if anyone knows about a very well kept A2 in grey colour with low KM, please let me know

The one I am purchasing is missing some of the things I would like to implement, so I’d love to hear if anyone here could help. 

Interiors:
• Front controls, navigation plus or one of the other factory ones, and the underneath controls.
• maybe some plastic switches
• Armrest (if possible )

Exterior:
• Rear A2 badge and rear Audi logo badge 
• tyres rims ( not sure about which ones)
• Fog lights ( if possible )

tech:

• Cruise control installation

This was not avaliable für 1,2tdi, so finding this is nearly unpossible. The naviagtion nowadays is completly useless anyway, try to retrofit an oem Sryle android System (find the thread from @Krebserl) or go for an oroginal concert, retrofit Bluetoozh to it (very easy unvisible blue music plug and play adapters avaliable) and use your phone for navigation

not avaliable from factory, has to be retrofitted including new sofware for ecu, mechanical is is easy, softeare is avaliable here in the forum for A2 club members,

 

Conclusion:

 

Find a good 1,2 tdi and modify it to your needs, these cars are very rare, there is probaly no one exsisting as you are looking for. Look out for air conditioning and powerstering, this is almost unpossible to retrofit ... look out for good maintaince and a workking hydraulic gear box with no leaks, much more important than fog lights wich are retrofitted in about  2 Hours.

 

Dont be afraid of high mileage, for a well maintained car it is absolutely no problem, timimg belt and probaly oilpump chain should be done. Take someone familiar with these cars to your testdrives! Good luck!!

thank you for your quick reply, I am trying to gather as much information as possible before finalising the purchase so I find your comments really helpful

 

Is there anyone who can help with finding the original audio concert and the clima station underneath? 
 

this part of the car is what is most important for me to upgrade from the one I am buying now.

 

in regards to plastic and logo It seems like everything is available at Audi tradition. 
 

regarding the tyres is it not possible to change the basic with another version still of A2 ? 
 

The one I found seems like the only reasonable in the danish market at the moment. Is the German one better ?

You try to buy a 3L with manuel clima and want to upgrade to cimatronic ??

 

Show us a link to the car. Sometimes new users only look at the mileage, but this is not really a quality sign on our cars.

 

Example: a 150 tkm 3L A2 ist 50-100tkm in front of a new clutch, couse the wear of the clutch release bearing sleeve kills the clutch at 200-250 tkm

 

If you by a 200tkm 3L with new clutch you are with less problems on the way as with 150 tkm

 

Identically all seals. They are old in our cars. If it has driven 100 tkm or 200 tkm is not really a difference, but in the 200 tkm car the chance of a owner who said "ohh there are some repairs, lets do all at once" are bigger, then a driver with litte mileage/year

 If your car has the rotary control for heating and air it has NO air condition! (and probaly no powersteering, because than its most likely the ultra efficency version of 3L, you recognize it, if there are fixed, non detachable seats in the back!)

no, as i said, it 5-hole rim at all other A2, 3L has 4-hole and the ultralight wheels are important for the efficency, there are othres wheels fitting, but its not recommended to do so. (VW Up Wheels for instance fit)

In Germany we call such Models (Small 21L Tank, no AC, bolted in Backseats) "Hardcore" 1.2TDIs 

 

No Comfort at all but 2,9l/100km :-D

 

Pretty nice condition but the Price is quite High...

I think you better ask in denmark for this ... ;-), i just know there are very high taxes on import cars in DK, probably not so bad with the 3L becuase it also depends on CO2 ...

Yes... What is your goal.... "Third or foured" wagn for collection and a little bit driving. --> ok... if this car looks good for you

 

Daily driving: to expensive .... 

 

Daily Driving + adding clima and power steering: No way... buy something else

Did you consider a non 3L TDI? Very efficient cars also, no experts needed when problems occur, standard VW engine and gearbox, much more cars avaliable

 

The 3L is very special, your workshop will most likely not be able to repair Gearbox specific problems, even the audi dealership is not able to help you anymore ... you have to get deep into it yourself to drive such a car or have an specialist nearby and at the end most of the time the over all costs are higher than on a normal A2 tdi.

 

You drive an very rare iconic car, but that comes with hight costs (and probaly a lot of downtime ... )

I think you have to look for a 1,4 Petrol A2

 

Cheaper, faster warm, not so noisy and  outside of failed components, the only topic is airtightness.

 

The 1,4 TDI saves you 1-2L/100km, but it is louder and has a oilpumpchain to be changed from 250-300.000km 

 

If you dont save money with the tdi (here Diesel is at higher costs of insurance and tax) , cause you drive not so much and turbo kik is not important for you, search for a petrol one
