Also 10 Teilnehmer. 2 weg von 12 ist schon eine Menge.

 

Als Hütte haben wir im Moment eine 15er. Die Hüttenkosten, genau so wie die von der Track, kann ich nicht reduzieren.

 

Eine Lösung habe ich noch nicht. Ich kümmere mich drum.

Also tendiziell wäre mir die Hütte schon lieber. Einfach weil es gemütlicher ist bzw. ein weiterer Abend zusammen mit den Anderen.

Ich habe geplant bis Donnerstag in Helsinki zu bleiben. Falls die Hütte wirklich zu teuer ist (auch im Vergleich zum Hotel bei ca. 50-70€ die Nacht?) wird es bei mir auf eine zusätzliche Nacht in einen Hotel in der Nähe von Helsinki rauslaufen. Wegen der bescheidenen Parkplatzsituation kommt da für mich kein Hotel/Hostel in der Innenstadt in Frage.

 

@A2Magica/seineletriker: Hattet ihr da nicht eine günstige Bleibe in der Nähe von Helsinki gefunden?

Naja, die grosse Hütte ist gegen €300 / Nacht. Nein, ich kriege keine bessere Preise.

 

Vierumäki selbst wäre eine Möglichkeit; Lahti ist tendenziell horrend Teuer. €100 / Nacht für mittelmässiges Hotel. Messilä kommt mir auch in den Sinn, auch weil es um die Ecke ist und die Dienste anbietet die Lehmonkärki immer noch nicht geantwortet hat.

 

Messila bietet sowas an: Messilä - Yöpyminen - Hirsimökit

 

Preislich geht's, denke ich. Und das ist auch nah genug dran an Lahti um das zu besuchen, ohne laut zu werden (alles wohl relativ!).

 

Ohja: ihr seid bis Dienstag zu viert. Durnesss, Phoenix, Magica, seinelektriker. Den Umzug in ein zweite Hütte könnte genau so ein Umzug in ein zweiter lokation sein...

Jain,

 

bin wieder am Suchen aufgrund der Aktuellen Lage und Bret's gedanken.

 

Habe auch schon daran gedacht wenn Blockhütten nur bis Mo.-Morgen, dann in Lathi oder andere Stadt (beim Skidoo) Mo-Di zu übernachten und Di bis Do in Helsinki ggf wie bei uns geplant.

 

Wir hatten uns mit dem "Best Western Premier Hotel Katajanokka" beschäftigt, ist jedoch nicht als preiswert einzustufen und genau hinter dem Eurohostel gelegen (Die Rote Mauer links, war mal ein Gefängnis).

Dann das "Scandic Grand Marina" liegt auch in der nähe vom Eurohostel, war das mit den Fakeln welches nahe am Fähr-Kai war (Thomas & AS, wo wir den A2 gefunden haben) Quali, war von den Bewertungen nicht ganz optimal.

Grade mal gesucht u.a. "Hotel Meripuisto" in Espoo gefunden, ein Gedanke.

 

Primäres Problem sind Parkplätze von Hotels in Helsinki. (Laut den Portalen)

Und wenn die Bewertungen nicht in D vorhanden sind, fraglich ob das Hotel dann etwas für uns ist.

 

Beim Eurohostel scheinen Parkplätze laut Google-Earth /Streetview vorhanden zu sein (Riichtung Süd-Ost, am Kai). Dort einen Parkplatz zu benutzen hatten wir als Option vorgesehen, Kosten sind wohl überall vorhanden. Und Frühstück müste ebenfalls beachtet werden. Dennoch, als "Not-Reserve" ist das Eurohostel bei mir noch vorhanden.

Das kenne ich, und hat bewertbare Eigenschaften.

 

Falls in den Letzen Tagen (Mo-Do) ein gemeinsammes Programm enstehen könnte, wären Besuchsziele auch mit einem Auto erreichbar.

So wird mein T4 wohl ein Großteil seiner Zeit mit Parken in Finnland verbringen.

 

Wie gesagt, durch die Dynamik der letzten Stunden sind einige Planungen in Frage gestellt und neue / alte zu überdenken.

Zur Info mal die Parkzonen in Helsinki:

 

Parking in Helsinki is subject to a charge in nearly every street during working days and also on Saturdays in the inner city streets. Parking is allowed only on marked parking spaces.

 

The streets in Helsinki inner city have been divided into three parking payment zones, the current fees being:

 

• Zone 1 4 euro/hour
  
• Zone 2 2 euro/hour
  
• Zone 3 1 euro/hour
  

Parking is subject to a charge in all zones from Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 19:00. On Saturdays, parking is usually subject to a charge in zone 1. The chargeable parking hours are marked on each ticket machine and parking meter.

Das Eurohostel liegt ganz im Osten in Zone 2. Das wären dann 20€ für einen ganzen Tag. Im Zusammenspiel mit dem günstigen Preisen des Eurohostel noch erträglich. Ich werde auch nochmal schauen, was es für Alternativen in Helsinki gibt.

Wenn wir Montag erst spät von Lahti kommen

und ich Dienstag gegen Mittag zum Check-in muss

Wenn wir Freitag Morgen und Vormittag Helsinki anschauen, wo parkt man da am besten? Parkplatz sollte tiefergelegten Autos gerecht sein (obwohl meine Motorabdeckung aus Alu ist).

Viele Parkplätze sind entlang der Strasse und wären dort für tiefergelegte Fahrzeuge geeignet. Wenn nicht gerade ein dicker Schneehaufen dort zusammen geschoben wurde.

 

Ich hatte im letzten Jahr mit meinem A2 allerdings keine Probleme. Die Motorabdeckung hatte zwar häufiger mal Kratzkontakt mit dem Schnee, kaputt gegangen ist aber nix...

nuttinnew hat's auch mitbekommen, auch im UK forum.

 

The track is most definitely there, when also with a couple of minor alterations (to do with the height of the snow walls and the precise corners in the back section with the 180 turn, as illustrated here. They were driving the "other" way round today, i.e. anti-clockwise, where we were driving clockwise. I'll have to ask if there's a reason for it.

Mikael was also playing with cameras, so I need at least one GoPro to go with the 2 Contours I expect to be able to get my hands on. We'll then do three cams on the outside and one inside for a couple of laps in peace on Sunday. Looks fantastic - I'll show some stills shortly that I'm processing right now.

 

The firepit is also available, so I'll finish off the orders from the UK this week and then practice making coffee over an open fire

The road from Hikiä is absolutely fantastic, it's "too short"; I need to readjust my headlights slightly, but especially in the snow it's great. Very, very fast at times and always a surprise.

 

My wife will join us on Saturday, so she'll take the early train from Lahti and be in Hikiä at 0740. I'll pick her up and then come back to Lemipvaara: then you lot can join and we can be on our way. That way the guys have a *bit* of time to thing some stuff through. There should be four of them, they are not all confirmed 100% yet.

 

The day will be LONG, so prepare yourselves mentally to be pretty dead when you get home on Saturday. I'm shattered because I walked around 400m of knee- to thigh-deep snow (and no, I'm not kidding) to get to a photo point. It's seriously hard work. That plus the driving and not enough coffee is a bad combination.

 

Still outstanding are my photo / video permits for the harbour for Friday morning. I'll deal with that on Monday. My camera should be here a week on Monday, then it's time to practice: the next SCF session is on the 13th, which is a Sunday, and I think I'll try and get there just for the video footage for an hour or so.

I'll try and get some signs made up, there are a couple of guests invited who won't be with us from Lempivaara.

Make sure you have a brush you can use to sweep the salted snow off the car, including in the wheels and the tailgate.

If we're driving in Convoy, please keep up. I try not to drive like a complete lunatic: I know you're there...

Oh: BOTH sections of the track were in use (!) which really surprised me. I don't expect this to be happening with us, I will check with Mr. Icetrack.

Someone's been looking at my Facebook updates I see I'm so happy that the track day was not canceled this time... The video you've seen was filmed at around 1700 - 1730 after which I gave up as I was the last one driving around the track at the time. The blizzard got so heavy, that my lights no longer penetrated it which means I lost visual of my brake points, which is slightly unnerving when doing ~160 km/h before the 180 degree turn... In addition, the snow covered the icy patches, which meant I had no idea where I'd have grip or not... I found this out while putting the car tail first into the snow bank which threw the tail around and then I was facing the snow bank, but no harm done fortunately

 

The daytime videos look awesome! 720p@60fps is really cool! I just need to edit the videos when I have time (maybe this weekend).

 

The track direction is decided by the club and as we've driven the track previously in the other direction, it was time to change. Depending on the conditions, the track (and/or the direction) is usually changed during the track day. This time there were no issues, the ice seems very thick and we had no strike through on any parts of the track.

Bit of a weather update, for those of you interested.

 

We're still well below 0, snowing like crazy and already we have 50cm of the stuff. Forecast for the next seven days says between 0 and -8, depending, though right now they have forecast 0 and it's -4; last week they forecast -11 and it hit -24.

 

So, be prepared for serious snow and cold conditions... but it might be "warm", i.e. -2. More information will follow!
